Intermodal Services was founded in Timisoara, in the year 2018. Operationally, the company is active at the office in Ploiesti, through the terminal taken over in October 2018 from a Belgian group of companies. The decision to acquire the terminal in Ploiesti was based on the collaboration between the terminal and the Swiss group of companies Bertschi. The Bertschi Group, already existing in Romania with two subsidiaries, established in 2012 a third subsidiary based in the terminal, in order to deliver the goods arriving at the terminal to Bertschi customers in southern and eastern Romania, Moldova and northern Bulgaria. In May 2017, the owner of the terminal at that time and the Bertschi Group started the negotiations for taking over the terminal and continuing its operation. The acquisition of the terminal was completed and signed at the beginning of October 2018.
The goal was to build a neutral terminal, open to all interested companies – from railway operators, road hauliers, forwarding companies.
With the acquisition of the terminal, part of the team was taken over, respectively, Florian Pruna, the terminal manager, Lucica Constantin, Valeriu Teodorescu, Mariana Oblu, Eugen Marcu, Florian Ionescu, Nicolae Vlad, all coming with solid experience in renowned organizations.
